MORRILTON, Ark. - Funeral services are set for a Morrilton High School student killed after he was hit by car while walking to the bus stop.
Grae Riddle will be remembered Saturday morning during services at Bob Neal & Sons in Morrilton.
Arkansas State Police report the 18-year-old was killed along Highway 95. His family says Grae was wearing his headphones, music blaring, head down, and did not hear his friends yell to him that a car was coming.
People who live along the roadway feared speeding may have played a factor in the accident. Family members say that wasn't the case. Grae's family says the driver did everything she could to avoid the incident -- it was simply a tragic accident.
Classmate Madison Knapp said the school had a somber feeling throughout the day.
"We were all complaining about coming to school today and now I think we're all realizing how lucky we are to be able to go to school," said Knapp.
The superintendent said counselors are on hand this week at all schools.
