MAYFLOWER, Ark. - Help is needed for victims who lost everything in a weekend apartment building fire.
In a news release issued late Tuesday afternoon, Mayflower Mayor Randy Holland said about 50 people had been displaced by Saturday night's massive fire at the Queens Manor Apartments on Hwy. 365.
Holland says the fire victims were initially housed at Mayflower schools and then anyone who didn't find friends or family to stay with were given hotel vouchers from the Red Cross.
"I encourage the residents of Mayflower to continued to show the compassion and strength that you have been known for through previous problems, and I thank you for the privilege of serving," Holland said in the release.
First Baptist Church of Mayflower has been accepting bags of clothes and shows to benefit survivors and will continue to manage these benefits until they are no longer needed.
