MAUMELLE, Ark.- A teacher at Maumelle High School was arrested Friday for Public Intoxication.
The Maumelle Police Department (MPD) says Ann Higgins was in class acting strange, when several other teachers noticed that she smelled of alcohol. The teachers notified administrators and the school resource officer.
Police say Higgins was removed from the class she was teaching and given a "portable breath test" in which she registered .14, nearly twice the legal limit.
Higgins was released after processing at the MPD. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 20.
According to the Maumelle High School website, Higgins teaches pyschology and American history.
