Man Survives Shooting in Little Rock, Suspect Arrested

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A suspect is in custody after being accused of shooting a man Tuesday morning in a neighborhood near Midtown.

Police say Modelle Jonkins, 29, of Chicago, IL was arrested at 8:40 a.m. for shooting Edgar Johnson, 35, of Little Rock.

Jonkins’ girlfriend, 38, told police that Johnson had returned to her home on Chickadee Drive and began kicking at her door.

One witness said that they heard two gunshots, but did not see the person who was shooting.

Officers report one spent round and two live rounds were found on the ground outside of the home.

Police questioned a second person, but they were later released without charges.

Police found Johnson at CHI St. Vincent hospital being treated for a gunshot wound.

Johnson told police that he did not know who shot him, but described the suspect as a tall black man with an eyepatch.

Jonkins is charged with first degree battery and is being held at the Pulaski county jail.
