Man Says Arkansas State Trooper is His Guardian Angel

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Jace Dondanville has a guardian angel.

Instead of wings, he has a badge.

"Tires squealing, brakes burning, that's about it," says Dondanville. "One of the people that work there called the State Trooper. He came down there and picked me up."

While at work Tuesday, Dondanville says a gun accidentally went off.

"As soon as my vision went away, I thought I was gone but as long as I could keep the air, as long as I can keep the air in me I'm good," says Dondanville.

His friends called an Arkansas State Trooper who was right down the road in DeWitt.

Dondanville says he was put in the back of a patrol car and rushed to the hospital.

"He could've stopped and let them put me in the ambulance and let them take me. He decided to keep going. I'm glad he did," he says.

Dondanville says if the Trooper hadn't made those quick actions, he wouldn't be here today.

"There's not enough that I can do for him right now. I'm more than thankful," says Dondanville.

Officials at Arkansas State Police say the Trooper was unavailable for an interview.

Dondanville says he's friends with the Trooper. They met because Dondanville would change the Trooper's oil.
