MAUMELLE, Ark. -- One person is dead and a Maumelle police officer and two others are injured after a collision early Saturday morning.
The Arkansas State Police preliminary report has identified the deceased driver as 22-year-old Anthony Demorris Walker, Officer Christopher Austin Cruse sustained injuries to both legs.
The police car and a Jeep collided on State Highway 100 near the intersection with State Highway 365 shortly before 1:00 a.m.
A 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman who were passengers in the Jeep were also hurt.
According to Maumelle Police Captain Jim Hansard, Officer Cruse was responding to a call when the collision occurred.
The preliminary investigation of the accident site indicate that Officer Cruse was traveling northbound, and the Jeep was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.
Arkansas State Police have taken over the investigation of the accident.
