Man Convicted in Sherwood Murder Gets Life in Prison

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A Sherwood man has been convicted in the 2016 murder of an elderly woman.

After a jury verdict of guilty was returned this week against Chris Arnold, 52, a judge sentenced him to life in prison.

The victim in the November 2016 case was Maurine Jones, 85, the best friend of Arnold's mother.

When Arnold was first questioned in the case, he told police he had been at Jones' home to use a fishing dock.

He told investigators that the woman had fallen down and hit her head but police said the evidence showed she was strangled with a scarf.

Police say when Jones was found dead inside her home, they found bleach had been poured on her body.
