LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Dashcam video from the scene of the Monday morning arrest of state representative and prominent civil rights attorney John Walker has been released by the Little Rock Police Department (LRPD).
In the two attached videos you will see the incident as it unfolded as a conversation between Walker and officers, then shows the moment when Walker was taken into custody.
The incident began when Walker came upon a police traffic stop and started recording it with his cell phone. Police said he was asked to stop recording and later walked into the area where police were working. The driver of the car police had pulled over and his passenger were arrested on outstanding warrants. A third man, Omavi Kuskukuru, was arrested on the same charge as Walker when police said he too walked into the area where officers were working.
On Tuesday, the LRPD announced it was dropping the obstruction of governmental operations charge filed against Walker and issued him a letter of apology. Walker later rejected the letter. The charge was not dropped against Kuskukuru.
