LRPD: 1 Man Critically Injured in Gambling Dispute Shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A man is hospitalized after being shot Saturday (3/5) night at a home on South Polk Street.

Marquis Sledge, 28, was listed in critical condition at the time of the police report early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened in the 3300 block of South Polk Street shortly after 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they found blood on the ground and damage to the home from gunfire.

Officers also found a handgun near the scene.

Upon further investigation, police discovered the victim had been taken to a local hospital by private car.

The shooter is believed to be a man only referenced in the report as "Drea", according to the report.

Witnesses say Drea had become angry after a gambling loss, left the home, then returned with a gun and shot Sledge.

Another man inside the home used a gun as self defense during the shooting, according to police.

The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Little Rock Police Department.
