LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The first week of school is officially in the books and many kids are still hoping to get match with a mentor to help them throughout the year.
One of them is nine-year-old Jada Utsey, who's just started fourth grade.
"I like reading books and getting ready for school," she says, adding that her favorite subject is math.
It's not a subject that every student loves, but Jada liked the challenge.
"It's fun to learn about and the different strategies you want to learn," she explains.
Jada's love for the classroom has inspired her future career.
"A teacher," she continues. "I want to help kids be smart and learn more about books and other stuff."
And she'd like a mentor to help her towards that goal.
"Someone who is a teacher who can help me with homework and with math," she specifies.
Jada says a mentor could help her with everything in life and the struggles that come with being a kid.
"Some people don't have a good attitude towards me, so I want a mentor to show me a good attitude," she says.
It'd Jada's hope to be paired up with a math teacher as her mentor so she can share her passion for learning and teaching and be prepared to lead a classroom as well someday.
