LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Tuesday, a Libertarian Party candidate announced his run for Governor of Arkansas in the 2018 election.
Batesville-native Mark West currently serves as a Minister in Independence County, while continuing his endeavors in the small business, banking, and management arenas.
In a press release, West said he intends to "put Arkansas first" and to "eliminate the over-reaching D.C. influence that has infiltrated the great State of Arkansas."
West said he has developed a comprehensive plan to address the many issues that he believes have been "either ignored or exacerbated" by our current Governor, Asa Hutchinson. He said he will challenge head on, "the bully politics that have been deployed by Governor Hutchinson in order to safeguard Arkansas values, by not allowing them to be bargaining chips to special interest groups that benefits giant corporations."
West said he intends to:
- fight for legitimate tax cuts
- keep the internet free of taxation
- make certain that Arkansas Veterans are never ignored
- insure that State agencies such as the Arkansas Department of Health and Children's Services are held to a higher standard of quality that will ensure the protection of Arkansas's children
