FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema announced Monday quarterback Cole Kelley has been suspended indefinitely following a weekend arrest for DWI and reckless driving.
Bielema said he will not play Saturday and won't practice with the team this week.
“He’s going to have to do a lot of growing up in a short amount of time,” Bielema said in reference to Kelley. "It’s a learning lesson that I hope he takes full advantage of."
Kelley was pulled over at 4:00 a.m. Sunday and taken into custody about 15 minutes later.
The arresting officer says he observed a black Toyota Tundra strike the curb, with both passenger wheels going on top of the curb. The vehicle was pulled over at Wedington and Colorado Street.
The officer reports making contact with Kelley and says his eyes were red and watery.
Kelley failed the field sobriety tests and declined providing the sample for a portable breath test.
He's set to appear in court on December 15th.
