LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – KARK’s parent company closed Tuesday on the purchase of Media General, creating the second-largest broadcast company in the United States.

The new Nexstar Media Group will have more than 170 television stations across 100 markets reaching 39% of U.S. households. In addition to the name change, President and CEO of Nexstar Media Group Perry Sook announced the promotion of KARK's Vice President and General Manager Mike Vaughn to Senior Vice President and Regional Manager of Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.

Mr. Vaughn, who brings over 23 years in broadcasting and sales management experience to his new role, will have oversight of station operations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Tennessee. He served as Vice President and General Manager of KARK from 2011 to 2016 and was also responsible for managing Nexstar’s relationship with Mission Broadcasting’s KLRT (FOX) and KASN (CW) in Little Rock under a joint operating agreement.

Prior to that, Mr. Vaughn was Vice President and General Manager of KNWA and KFTA, the NBC/FOX duopoly serving Fayetteville and Fort Smith, from 2008 to 2011. From 2005 to 2008, he served as Director of Sales overseeing both sales departments in Fayetteville and Little Rock. Mr. Vaughn started his career with Nexstar in sales and spent seven years as an Account Executive and Local Sales Manager for KOZL (formerly KSFX) in Springfield, Missouri.

Nexstar Media Group has also announced other changes and appointments to its executive and senior management team to support the Company’s expanded platform, increased scale and near- and long-term growth objectives.
