LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (News Release) -- Nexstar Broadcasting announced the hire of veteran journalists Tyler Thomason and Rebecca Jeffrey at KARK in Little Rock. Both come to Little Rock from KMID-TV and KPEJ-TV in Midland, Texas and have experience serving viewers in Arkansas.
Thomason is a native of Central Arkansas who has served as KMID/KPEJ News Director for the last 16 months following two years as the main anchor for the ABC affiliate. Thomason previously worked for KNWA-TV in Fayetteville and KSAN-TV in San Angelo, Texas. He's a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
For Thomason, joining the KARK team is in his blood. His grandfather Bill Thomason is a former station employee.
"I grew up in Sherwood, went to church in North Little Rock, my parents live in Cabot, and other family members live in the capital city," said Thomason. "I care a lot about these communities and want to do what I can to keep them informed."
Jeffrey has been the morning anchor for KMID-TV for the last three years. Prior to that, she worked at KNWA-TV in Fayettville and KWKT-TV in Waco, Texas. During her time in Arkansas, Jeffrey played a key role in coverage of the death of Lowell's police chief, 9/11-related legislation with ties to Arkansas, and the 2014 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. She's a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists and graduate of Texas Christian University.
"I'm excited to be a part of an environment where the greatest new ideas are brought to life," said Jeffrey. "I look forward to honing skills KARK/FOX16 have become known for: delivering the news you want, in a way you want it."
Thomas and Jeffrey are married. The pair met in Fayetteville and looks forward to putting down roots in Arkansas.
"Rebecca and I are ecstatic about this opportunity and cannot wait to get started," added Thomason. "She may be a Texas girl, but she already knows how to call the Hogs! I'm thrilled that we will be able to work together with so many friends and family members nearby."
Viewers will begin to see Thomason and Jeffrey on KARK-TV in August.
