Inmates Growing Pumpkins in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ark. - It may not seem like a normal pairing, but in Franklin County, some jail inmates are growing pumpkins.

The fruits of their labor are then sold for a very good cause. All the money from these pumpkin sales will be donated to Franklin County's Shop with a Cop event.

That's where law enforcement deputies take kids in need in the county and give them a chance to buy items on their Christmas list.

"It's just, if you have gotten to go to Shop with a Cop and see a smile on the kids' face, it's worth it. A lot of the people are there and see it. People are very generous when it comes to kids," says Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen.

The money raised with these pumpkin sales will determine how much the children will have to spend during the holiday season.
