House Fire Kills Former Shannon Hills Police Chief

SHANNON HILLS, Ark. - The former police chief of a Saline County community has died in a house fire.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 11400 Charlotte Drive in Shannon Hills around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Bobby Hale, 52.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division and the Arkansas State Fire Marshall are investigating the blaze. 

The ASP says the victim's body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine manner and cause of death. 

Captain William McCullar with the Shannon Hills Fire Department says that when fire crews were first called to the scene, they were advised that there was possibly a person trapped inside the home. 

Capt. McCullar says the first Shannon Hills engine on the scene reported heavy fire through the roof and crews from the Northeast Saline, Crystal, Alexander, Bryant and Collegeville fire departments were called in to help fight the fire.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Arkansas State Fire Marshall are investigating a house fire that occurred Wednesday night (March 8th) at 11400 Charlotte Drive, located in the Shannon Hills community. 

The body of Bobby Hale, 52, of Shannon Hills was found in the home. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine manner and cause of death. 

The cause of the fire is part of an on-going and active investigation by the Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division.

A first responder with the SHFD says crews were called to a home on Charlotte Drive around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
