This letter was sent to parents from Central High School Principal Nancy Rousseau:
Our school is committed to the safety and education of all our students. For this reason, I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred today. While it did not involve our students, we want to keep you informed of issues when they arise. A former student who did not have approval to be on campus came onto the back patio where he was immediately approached by LRSD security and a school resource officer. Thanks to the alertness of our security team, he was immediately confronted. However, he ran from authorities and apparently dropped a small gun in the process. The weapon was retrieved and turned over to Little Rock Police for a full investigation.
All students were in class at the time this occurred and did not come into contact with the individual. The school day continued without incident. We are grateful to our security team for remaining vigilant in keeping our campus safe.
