Good News Matters: Bark Bar to Host "Puppy Bowl"

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A local bar is gearing up to host the state's first "Puppy Bowl" on Super Bowl Sunday.

Bark Bar is Arkansas' first dog park/bar. It's the only place in the state you can order a cocktail and canine cuisine in the same place.

"We are a Cheers for dogs. You come in and everyone is going to know your dog's name," says Cara Fowler with Bark Bar.

This Sunday they're trying something new and modeling it after something you see every year on Animal Planet.

"Bark Bar is going to be THE Super Bowl spot this Sunday because this is the first time Arkansas has had a Puppy Bowl," she says.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, your dog can be in the local Puppy Bowl, or watch the national one that afternoon. And then that night, you and your furry friend can watch the big game together. It's one of many events the Bark Bar is hosting this year, including a Mardi Gras parade and a Chinese New Year celebration.

"Guess what year it is? It is the year of the dog. We are going to have a fantastic party," she continues.

It's not your typical bar, but it's a place where man's best friend can feel at home, complete with a doggie ale drink.

Be sure and join us on Sunday morning at 10 for a special edition of KARK 4 Today, for the Puppy Bowl and a special newscast before Super Bowl LII airs right here on KARK (NBC).
