Girl Hit By Arrow In Little Rock Park

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A Friday night in the park-- turning into something far less pleasant, after a teenager is hit by a hunting arrow. "This is the crossbow arrow lying in the grass as I approached and took the picture," says Bryan Germany.

On any given day, Bryan Germany can be seen at Allsopp Park in the Hillcrest neighborhood in Little Rock. "It's so unexpected that it's shocking." But on his way back from Kroger Friday night, he noticed several police cars in the park. "And I stopped in to check it out for the neighborhood watch program."

Witnesses tell police they saw the teenage girl pull an arrow out of her leg-- as she was playing soccer with her brother and dad. According to those witnesses-- she noticed the arrow when she looked down while running.

"This arrow had a blade tip that features a mechanical tip, those are inch razor blades that pop out on impact." Germany says he's never seen poachers in the park - but says the incident has many in the community concerned. "I think what troubles most of the people are that there are no clear answers, they don't know if was random, accidental, they're concerned it happened in their safe park."

Now he's hoping police can hunt down the person responsible. "That would be the hope that someone can come forward and say hey I did or I know who may have done it and come clean about it."

The identity of the girl injured has not been released because she is a minor. It's still unclear where the arrow came from - or if it was an accident or intentional.
