SHANNON HILLS, Ark. - Loving father, wonderful brother, good officer... just some of the words used to describe former Shannon Hills Police Chief Bobby Hale.
Friends and loved one's filled Geyer Springs First Baptist Church Tuesday to say their goodbyes to Hale.
Hale died after his home caught fire last week. Investigators say he lived there with his wife, but he was the only one inside at the time.
Loved one's stood one-by-one Tuesday to share fond memories of him. Hale's mother says she will always remember his service as a mentor to young kids.
"He was the eldest of my children, and he has always felt a special place for young people, because he was smart enough to know that if you don't educate and mentor young people, then we're not going to have good adults later on," Sue Compton Anderson, Hale's mother, said.
State Police say they are still investigating what caused the fire.
