Fayetteville Man Arrested for Trafficking Drugs

Police found meth and marijuana inside the vehicle

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  –  A Northwest Arkansas man was arrested for trafficking drugs, according to Fayetteville Police.

Detectives with the Fourth Judicial District Drug Task Force received a tip about a shipment of methamphetamine being delivered in the NWA area.

Detectives say they set up surveillance in an area they believed Leander Shepard, 59, would deliver a package containing drugs.

According to the police report, Shepard had parked his vehicle near the 2000 block of E. Wilkins Pl. when police went up to him and asked if they could search the package inside his vehicle.

Shepard accepted the search, and police say they found around one pound of methamphetamine in baggies and seven packages of marijuana weighing in total of 2.3 pounds.

Shepard is being held at the Washington County Detention Center and is charged for Trafficking of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Purpose to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
