Community BBQ Honors Man Who Was Killed in Home Invasion

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-- Neighbors, family, and friends showed that they would not let the murder of a Little Rock man who worked to bring their community together and stop the violence tear their community apart.

Saturday people gathered together to BBQ, dance, and remember 50-year-old Danny Lewis right in front of his Howard Street home where police say two people murdered him, shot his brother in the head, and pistol whipped a 12-year-old.

Barbecuing was something Danny's family said he loved to do for the kids.

Kenneth Lewis, Danny's brother who was shot in the head says, "Danny would get out and before he would go to sleep he'd walk the neighborhood to make sure no trouble going down before he even go to sleep."

Danny's kids and grandkids sat on the couch inside the house calling their dad a magnet. They referred to him as having an energy that pulled not just the family but the community together.
