Church Members React to Sex Offender Working with Youth

WHITE COUNTY, Ark.- Members of a small church in White county are stunned after finding out one of the church goers working with children is a registered sex offender.

"He extended himself really hard to befriend all the children," says Bunny Chaney, a member of the Pickens Chapel Church of the Nazarene.

Recently Chaney was told that Jason Teeter, a man who was married to one of the church members and working with youth of the congregation is a level 3 sex offender.

The discovery was made by a different member of the congregation and brought to the attention of the elders.

"We felt like we've been used and abused," says Chaney.

According to court documents the church's pastor, David Doyle confirmed Teeter had requested to work with the youth at the church and even attended events hosted by the Youth Group.

The church removed him from his position.  After that police say Teeter became irate and blamed the church member who discovered that he was a sex offender and threatened to hide behind her house in the cemetery and "take care of her the old fashioned way."

Teeter is facing charges of a registered sex offender working with children and terroristic threatening in the first degree.
