Blues Legend and AR Native Cedell Davis Dead at 90

HELENA,  Ark.-   Delta Blues pioneer and Helena Native, CeDell Davis,  has died at the age of 90. 

Social media posts on Wednesday evening are reporting the blues legend has died at the age of 90.

One of those post coming from , Greg Binns, a band mate and longtime friend of Davis, who posted that he died just after 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Davis was born in Helena, and moved to Pine Bluff in the 1960's. As a child, he suffered from polio and had been in a wheelchair since being injured in a stampede at a venue in 1957.

Davis had limited use of his fingers, but became a slide guitar aficionado , playing the instrument  with a butter knife.

He was still playing shows and according to his Facebook page, Davis was scheduled to play the King Biscuit Blues Festival in October.

The blue legend had been in and out of the hospital several times this summer.
