Ark. Lawmakers Address Guns and School Safety

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Sen. John Boozman and Rep. Steve Womack took a moment to speak about the current gun control controversy and push for school safety during separate interviews on Friday.

When asked about the solution to end school violence, Boozman talked about the failures related to the incident in Florida and the needs to address mental health.  You can watch his interview in the video above.

Rep. Womack was in Rogers reading to young students when he took a moment to answer KNWA questions about gun control.

Womack said while there can't be enough done to keep children safe, he is also in favor of legislative process when it comes to guns.

"A lot of it is what the protocols are in the local jurisdictions," Womack said. "I'm a big fan of allowing states and local school districts to answer the bell on what the best protocols is given those particular scenarios."
