SOUTHEAST TEXAS - Southeast Texas is still reeling tonight from the effects of Harvey, and the relief effort is far from over in neighborhoods where the water just won't go away.
Our Stephanie Sharp is in the southeast Houston area, where she had the opportunity to fly with National Guard Black Hawk Pilots, who are doing missions and assisting the Texas National Guard in recovery efforts.
After a safety briefing, they were in the air. The first task was to pick up Texas guardsmen in Katy and drop them off in Beaumont. Then, they were ready to relieve crews that were evacuating families from flooded areas, exactly the types of missions they train for.
"We never hope that they happen, but when the do, it's rewarding to have the capability to be able to come out here," pilot Daniel Craig Watson said.
