Alleged Dickson Street Murderer Has Bond Set at $250K


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) -- Bond has been set at $250,000 for the suspect accused of shooting and killing a man on Dickson Street in Fayetteville. 

The Fayetteville Police Department said Christopher Rankin, 25, of Sherwood was arrested on Monday on suspicion of first-degree murder. Rankin was booked into the Washington County Detention Center.

He appeared in Washington County Circuit Court on Wednesday where his bond was set. 

Police said Rankin got into a fight with another man when the shooting took place. This happened around 12:47 a.m. in a parking lot near the Arsaga's at the Depot coffee shop. 

The shooting victim died from his injuries at Washington Regional Medical Center. 


FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - One man is in custody following a deadly shooting on Dickson Street Monday morning.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, two men got into an altercation early Monday morning. That's when the shooting took place at 12:47 a.m. in the parking lot at 48 West Dickson Street in Fayetteville. 

One person was shot and passed away at Washington Regional Medical Center due to their injuries. At this time, police do not think there were any other individuals involved.     

"At this time we have no reason to believe there's any other suspects involved however the investigation is still on going and people are still being talked to and interviewed but at this point we feel as if we have the main suspect." said Cpl. Tiffney Lindley, with the Fayetteville Police Department.

Right now no charges have been filed and the suspect is still in police custody. Police are not naming the suspect yet.

Police are not releasing the victim's name at this time until they notify next of kin.
