MAUMELLE, Ark. - Five people from Houston, Texas are jailed after police say they took part in the burglary of a Walgreens store in Maumelle.
The Maumelle Police Department (MPD) says it happened shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday at the store located on the corner of Maumelle Blvd. (State Highway 100) and S. Odom Boulevard.
The MPD says the group stole a "substantial" amount of prescription drugs identified as Schedule II narcotics.
When officers arrived they found the front door had been damaged and noted a single vehicle (silver Nissan Rogue with Texas license plates) in the parking lot. As patrol cars pulled up to the store, that vehicle sped off and police chased after it.
When the Nissan stopped a short distance from the Walgreens, one individual got out and ran away but the vehicle took off again. The Nissan stopped a second time at the intersection of Ouachita Dr. and Millwood Circle where another person got out and ran away. Three more people were still inside the vehicle and were arrested.
MPD officers canvassed the area looking for the remaining two suspects. One of them was found around 6:15 a.m. on Highway 365. The final suspect was found about an hour later on Odom Blvd. and arrested without incident.
All five are charged with: Commercial Burglary, Possession of Instruments of a Crime, Possession of Prescription Drugs with Intent to Deliver, Theft of Property and Fleeing.
They are identified as:
Tyrone Trammer, 31
Ebony Kiffa, 30
Saleta Winn, 29
Deanthony Roquemore, 20
Malik Johnson, 19
Investigators are looking into whether these suspects may be connected to an early morning narcotics theft from a Little Rock Walgreens and also a string of pill burglaries from earlier this year involving suspects from Texas.
