3 Inmates Hurt at Arkansas Prison

Windows Broken, Surveillance Equipment Damaged at Cummins Unit

GRADY, Ark. - Three inmates at the Arkansas Department of Correction's (ADC) Cummins Unit have been injured in a disturbance at the prison facility.

In a news release issued Friday morning, the ADC stated that the incident happened around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Officials said the disturbance took place in a single housing area within the unit.

"An as yet undetermined number of inmates were involved in breaking windows and damaging surveillance equipment within the housing area/barracks. Correctional officers were able to regain control of the situation," the release stated.

The injured inmates were taken to area hospitals for treatment but there's no further word on their conditions. No correctional officers were injured.

Investigators from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division responded to the unit following the incident and will be conducting an investigation. The ADC will be conducting a parallel internal investigation.
