3 Arrested in Fort Smith Car Window Shootings

All three face a charge of first-degree criminal mischief

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) -- The Fort Smith Police Department on Wednesday arrested three suspects in connection with several car windows that were shot out with BB guns.

Authorities said Airek Riggins, 21, ReoDel Riggins, 20, and Derek Thomason, 20, were all arrested in the case and face a charge of first-degree criminal mischief.

The Fort Smith Police Department said a number of vehicles had windows shot out between October 17 and 19.

Officers obtained surveillance footage from two local schools, revealing a suspect vehicle. A school resource officer later found that suspect vehicle at a pawn shop.

Authorities watched the vehicle, and Airek Riggins eventually came out to it. Police spoke with him, and he revealed two BB guns inside the vehicle.

After an interview, the other two suspects were brought to the police department and arrested with Airek Riggins. They were booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

Police said they believe the three suspects are involved in at least 42 acts of criminal mischief involving BB guns.
