LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Linking communities to care... it's the theme of the 18th Annual Cancer Summit hosted in Little Rock Tuesday.
The Arkansas Cancer Coalition says the goal of the event is to increase cancer screenings in Arkansas. The more Arkansans who can get screened, the healthier and more proactive the whole state can be.
"We want to increase screening rates. We know early detection is key, and we know if we can detect cancer early we can treat it and have less mortality rates," Trena Mitchell, Executive Director of the Arkansas Cancer Coalition, said.
Cancer continues to be the second leading cause of death in Arkansas, and one in four will be diagnosed.
