13-Year-Old Shot in Both Legs Dances Again

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-- A 13-year-old girl shot in both of her legs in May danced again Saturday to inspire other kids to never give up on a dream.

A drive-by shooting May 5, 2017, on Apple Cove in Little Rock left Kaylee Harris shot in both legs.

The 13-year-old described to us hearing gunfire while she sat inside her home about 4 months ago.

Saturday she before taking the stage she met us to share how she is declaring Victory Over Violence.

Kaylee sat inside her church called Sand Hill Bailey Bible Church Saturday afternoon to tell us her story.

Then she went to Bullock Temple Church to dance and to share her story with other kids.

Kaylee said she hopes it inspires other kids to never give up chasing their dream.

Her mother Lakisha Frazier said, "I just want to introduce you to my daughter, my survivor, Kaylee Harris."

Kaylee showed us the four scars she has from 2 bullets.

She said, "On this leg the gunshot it went in right here and it came out right here."

The dancer said she will not let gunfire stop her from chasing her dream.

Kaylee said, "I want to be a professional dancer."

Her mother said 9 bullets went through the Apple Cove house.

"Just thankful to be here still because I could've been dead but I'm still here," the dancer said.

Both the 8th grader and her mom said God is what kept her alive and got her back on the stage.

Frazier said, "It was God. It's the only solution that I could come up with that. He was there with her."

The mother said she hopes her daughter's story encourages people to keep their faith.

She said, "Keep praying because you know God, He does hear us."

They showed us where a bullet pierced a photo of Kaylee.

The teen also showed us where a bullet went through the dress she wears to dance.

"This is one of the bullet holes that went through the heart of the dress," she described.

She wore the dress with the bullet hole on stage when she danced at the church.

Her mother said she hopes this story will call help police catch the person responsible.
