LITTLE ROCK, AR - An investigation is under way after shots were fired near Movies in the Park on Wednesday night.
The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) says it happened just before 10 p.m. after an unruly crowd of teenagers was escorted from the event in the River Market downtown.
As police and River Market security were leading the crowd from the area, the gunshots rang out as they reached Clinton Avenue. At that point, the crowd scattered in different directions.
While officers were looking for the armed individual, one of them thought they spotted a man with a gun. He was ordered to get on the ground and was searched but no gun was found and he was released without charges.
The LRPD says it had already increased its police presence in the River Market area since last week's Movies in the Park outdoor film showing at the First Security Amphitheater.
Police say they're working with everyone associated with the Movies in the Park events on better security strategies.
No arrest has been made in association with last night's incident, but police are working to identify the suspect.
