LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Firefighters and counselors come together to help young burn victims forget about their injuries and have fun.
Camp Sunshine is a 4-day camp held at camp Aldersgate in Little Rock.
The goal of the camp is to help people with burn injuries understand they are not alone and to build self confidence.
Everyone gets to be themselves, share similar experiences, and receive one on one attention with firefighters and counselors.
Visitor Carson Eddy shares what the experience means to him.
"I learned that all people here have scars. You just don't look at them differently. I think all the people here with burns are my family," Eddy says.
Camp Sunshine was founded in 1991 by a nurse who worked at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Burn Unit.
Thanks to community fundraisers, the camp is free of charge.
