LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) - Ballet Arkansas, the state’s largest professional dance company, is conducting its annual Summer Intensive Program for young dancers June 16 – 27.
Guest instructors for this years program include New York City Ballet Principal, Megan Fairchild and former Hubbard Street dancer, Greg Sample. Rounding out the list of instructors are seven of Ballet Arkansas 2013-14 professional company members as well as Ballet Mistress, Marla Edwards.
“Ballet Arkansas is committed to the education and advancement of young dancers throughout the state” says Artistic Director Michael Bearden. “It is important for young dancers to experience multiple teachers during their training in order to prepare them to be both strong and adaptable.” We are delighted to be offering Arkansas youth the opportunity to learn from such a wide range of talented teachers and their world class experience.”
Two one-week sessions of instruction are available June 16-27 for students from ages 9-18+ which will include classes in pointe, variations, contemporary, improv, choreography, body conditioning, modern, jazz, musical theater, dance history and pilates.
Dance Camp is available June 23-27 for students ages 5-8. Participants will enjoy classes in ballet, variations, modern, contemporary and modern musical theater.
