Erica Cason is the president of The Go Store in Conway, AR. Her store is one of hundreds of the collection sites for Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoeboxes across Arkansas. She showed the different things her store puts into these gift and tells how Arkansans can make their own.
From The Go Store:
The Go Store is a non-profit in downtown Conway AR at 807 Court St and we exist to help spread the Gospel primarily through a Samaritan’s purse project called Operation Christmas Child. This program sends shoebox gifts to children in over 100 countries filled with gifts, hygiene items and school supplies and presents them with the Gospel,. In addition they get to go through a 12 week discipleship program and get a bible in their own language.
The Go Store stocks items that are perfect for OCC and a great discount compared to many places as we buy in bulk, on clearance as well as closeout sales. This year we started a thrift store to help support this ministry and are taking donations and selling gently used items to cover overhead. Our goal is to keep prices down on supplies for OCC as much as possible and make it easier for groups, families and individuals to pack shoebox gifts, as well as spread the word about the ministry.
We offer many opportunities for those wishing to serve to be involved in volunteering with helping us make hygiene kits, school kits, running our thrift store, and many other things. We are collecting sewing supplies and have some ladies sewing dresses and reusable menstrual pads with donated materials and hope to grow our partnerships with other local ministries.
OCC national collection week is the third week of November (12-18).
