LITTLE ROCK, AR - LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) - SoMa is hosting their Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, March 1 at 12 p.m.

The parade will begin at the intersection of S. Main and 24th Street in Little Rock.

Floats and walkers will head down South Main until the parade concludes at the intersection of S. Main and 12th Street.

We are looking for Parade Entries - Mardi Gras Kings & Queens, Festive Walking Groups, Floats with Music, Marching Bands, Youth Groups, Vintage Cars, etc. This is a Mardi Gras Celebration and your entry should reflect the spirit. A cash prize will be awarded to the most authentic, Louisiana-style parade entry! There is no entry fee but a registration form is required.

Immediately following the parade, The Root Café will have the Judging of their Beard Growing Contest in The Bernice Garden. Bring your friends and family, wear some beads and make plans to celebrate Mardi Gras SoMa Style!

Limited Parking is available at 13th & South Main. For questions regarding the parade including how to enter, please contact SoMa at or by calling Hillis Schild at (501) 412-3768.

Arkansas Today guests Hillis Schild with the South of Main Street Coalition, and Jack Sundell with the Root Cafe join us to talk about the Mardi Gras season, and how you can get involved in the upcoming events.
