MAGNOLIA, AR -- People gathered Sunday to remember a woman who's been missing for 36 years.
Mary Shinn was last seen in Magnolia on July 20, 1978.
Her family and friends gathered to mark the anniversary of her disappearance and to try to find closure.
The memorial was held at Central Baptist Church.
Police believe Shinn disappeared after meeting an unidentified man to discuss trading some property.
Mary Shinn's brother Jay Shinn says the memorial wasn't a goodbye, but a way to show they haven't given up hope.
"It was a hard day to come to, but it actually turned out to be a beautiful day," Shinn said. "The words that were said, the music, I think it was something that my sister would have loved."
Family members tell us they appreciate the Magnolia community's kindness during this hard time.
