If you remember, the plan recommends the possible closures of Rockefeller Elementary and Carver Elementary Schools. But the outside consulting firm who drafted up this plan clarified that these schools will not shut down. It's suggested they would be re-purposed as Pre-K centers instead.
"We've got a lot of improvements. They've identified things most of us knew just by being in the buildings for 20 years," says Jim Ross, LRSD parent.
"One school we're looking at closing is Cloverdale and that's strictly a facility of a physical standpoint. The district had put a lot of money into that to keep it sound but it's had some unsettling problems," says Carl Baxmeyer, drafting plan.
The plan even suggests the district bring in new classrooms and a new school. The firms says this plan is essentially a road map for the district, to look at certain recommendations they'd like to prioritize and take action on.
