South Arkansas Ministry Helping People in Need

EL DORADO, AR - A local church organization is lending a helping hand to those in need in the community.

The St. James Food and Clothing Ministry provides assistance to those with little to eat who can also use some new things to wear.

It's a service St. James also provides when communities are struck by disasters.

The giving doesn't stop there. About three times a year, St. James will also fill up a trailer truck and send clothes to Africa.

Pastor George Calloway tells us, "On this side of town, the east side of El Dorado is the predominant area where we have people that are of low income. And that's one of our objectives to make sure we can help those people with low income. And we also from time to time when the money is available we help with utility bills and other things; of course it's hard sometimes because money is not coming in the community like it use to. "

"Another building is adjacent to this building, and we utilize it for people to have a place to sleep for them to rest. We cook some of the food for them there. Normally we don't cook food, we are set up in our other building that we could, but we don't do it. One of the main reasons is we just don't have the people, so we try our very best to do what we can to help everybody and every needs that we can." said Calloway.

St. James Food and Clothing Ministry is located on Junction City Road in El Dorado and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 a.m. to give away and collect donated food and clothes.
