WEST MEMPHIS, AR ( - Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis is closing its doors.

According to the hospital's website they will stop admitting patients Monday and will close the hospital for good on Sept. 7.

The website also states a struggling economy, along with a drop in patient numbers, has placed a major financial strain on the hospital.

The hospital's CEO Gene Cashman said the hospital's plan for success was hurt following the fire earlier this summer and the six week shutdown that followed.

In June, West Memphis residents voted to pass a 1 percent sales tax increase to keep the hospital open.
