JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR -- A Mississippi man has been arrested and charged with the killing of two people in Jefferson County.
21-year-old William Cody Childress is in custody.
The bodies of 62-year-old Anthony Branch, and 58-year-old Deborah Moncrief were found inside Moncrief's home on Cowboy Drive Friday morning.
Major Lafayette Woods, Jr., the Public Information Officer for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, says the motive may have been over money.
Multiple interviews with family members, friends, and neighbors were conducted as a part of the investigation.
Friday evening investigators located Childress and his fiancée, 23-year-old Jessica Moncrief, Deborah Moncrief’s niece.
After being interviewed, Woods says Childress led investigators to the gun believed to have been used in the double homicide.
Childress was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in connection with the homicidal deaths Branch and Moncrief.
Childress is currently being held without bond at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Jefferson County Adult Detention Center as the investigation continues.
“It definitely was not random or an accident. It appears that the double homicide was targeted”, said Major Woods.
