PINE BLUFF, AR -- Law Enforcement continue the search for an escaped convict who has been on the loose for more than a week.
Timothy Buffington walked away from a work assignment at the Pine Bluff Unit on June 21. He was serving a 20-year sentence for shooting and killing his ex-wife.
Search crews are still monitoring checkpoints and officers continue to patrol the area on ATVs and horseback.
At this point, the Arkansas Department of Corrections encourages anyone that thinks they may have seen him to call authorities. They say they'd rather it be a false alarm than miss an opportunity to capture him.
Shea Wilson from the Arkansas Department of Correction says they are persistent in their search.
"We are still trying to look in the wooded areas, anywhere where he might be holed up and really continuing to put pressure on this area in case he is still right here," Wilson said.
She adds Buffington may have grown some facial hair, or may be sunburned by now.
If you see anyone suspicious that matches Buffington's description, you are urged to call 911 immediately.
Police are searching the area of Princeton Pike in Pine Bluff for escaped inmate Timothy Buffington. The 47 year old left his work assignment earlier this evening.
