HOT SPRINGS, AR - A local organization that feeds the hungry in a four-county area is packing up emergency food boxes for seniors.
The Project HOPE Food Bank recently received a grant from Walmart to make it all possible.
The first food box will be presented in a special ceremony on August 15.
Officials say the food bank is thrilled to be able to offer this assistance to seniors in the community.
Project HOPE Food Bank is a privately funded facility in operation since 2007. It relies on business, civic and religious organizations and individuals for funding.
It is a 99-percent volunteer organization which is able to keep 95-percent of every dollar donated to put into its food subsidy or emergency food box programs.
The food bank also serves 55 agencies (pantries, crisis centers, children's homes and soup kitchens) in the Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery and Pike County area.
