Accidents were reported across Little Rock streets Friday evening. With too many accidents for police and tow trucks to reach, drivers chose to leave their cars and head home by alternative means. In many cases, the abandoned vehicles led to other accidents or additional traffic delays.
In West Little Rock, drivers reported commutes lasting an hour or longer while navigating around abandoned vehicles and accidents.
Numerous drivers reported leaving their vehicles parked on the side of the road and walking home when roads were blocked or they felt it was too dangerous to continue driving.
Clearly, tow trucks will be working overtime throughout the weekend to clear out vehicles.
As of late Friday evening, law enforcement wasn't able to tally up a total number accidents due to the high volume of calls it had received. It is estimated Little Rock Police and Arkansas State Police received well over 150 calls.
