LITTLE ROCK, AR - Cancer patients admitted to the UAMS hospital will get free makeovers from specially trained cosmetologists courtesy of the American Cancer Society’s Look Good, Feel Better program next week.
Participants include women living with cancer, a cosmetologist, and staff members representing the UAMS Medical Center Auxiliary and the American Cancer Society (ACS).
The makeovers will be done starting at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18 inside each patient's room.
Look Good Feel Better, a free hands-on makeover experience for women living with cancer, is now offered at the UAMS hospital, making it the first hospital in ACS’s six-state mid-south region to provide this program to inpatients. It has been offered to outpatients at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute since 2003.
The program teaches beauty techniques to women in active cancer treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
