LITTLE ROCK, AR - Some local students spent part of their day in the kitchen competing in the Cooking Up Change National Culinary Contest.
The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute at Pulaski Technical College hosted the event.
Students/aspiring chefs with the Little Rock School District's Metropolitan Career Technical Center teamed up with the district's Department of Child Nutrition to bring ingenuity and talent in creating a new future for healthy school food.
There were six teams in the contest featuring students from school zones throughout the district.
The winning team gets to represent Arkansas in the national competition and have their recipes featured on national and local lunch menus.
