French Toast Casserole with Chef Serge

French Toast Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf (1 pound) French Bread, cut into 1" cubes
  • 8 Eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3 Cups Milk
  • 4 tsp. Sugar
  • 1½ tsp. Vanilla
  • 3/4 tsp. Salt

Topping:

  • 3 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter
  • 3 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Ground Nutmeg
  • Maple Syrup

Directions:

  1. Place bread cubes in a greased 9"x13" baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
  3. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the top.
  4. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve with maple syrup.
