U.S. Women's Hockey Set for Gold Medal Showdown

In less than 24 hours the US Women's ice hockey team will compete for a gold medal against their bitter rivals Team Canada.
SOCHI -- In less than 24 hours, the US women's ice hockey team will compete for a gold medal against their bitter rivals Team Canada.

Since women's ice hockey became an Olympic sport in 1998, only 2 countries have ever won a gold medal -- and they're the same two that will face off Thursday night in Sochi.

"We're excited, we're ready to go," said Team USA captain Meghan Duggan.

In addition to going for gold, the US will also be going for revenge.  Canada's controversial 3-2 win in the group stage last week left a bitter taste.

Veteran Julie Chu is playing in her 4th Olympic games with the US.  The previous 3 trips ended with Canada taking home gold.  Now the 31-year old hopes the 4th time's the charm.

"We came to win gold," Chu told Kelchner.  "I've been fortunate to go to 3 Olympics.  We have 10 new players, not thinking about past, or future just what we can do tomorrow. "
