NLR Families in Need Receive Thanksgiving Meal Baskets

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Thanksgiving holiday will be a better one for some local families thanks to a couple of organizations.

The North Little Rock Police Department (NLRPD) along with the Kiwanis Club Of North Little Rock teamed up today to deliver 150 food baskets to families in the North Little Rock area.

The Kiwanis Club members first met at the Neighborhood Market in Sherwood to start filling the baskets for delivery. Ten members of the NLRPD, along with Police Chief Mike Davis then dropped by to join and start delivering the baskets to local families.

For the past 24 years, the Kiwanis Club of North Little Rock has delivered close to 5,000 holiday dinners to families in the community who are struggling to keep food on the table. This year the club was very excited to partner with the NLRPD to the meal baskets.

The Kiwanis International mission statement is “Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.”

“We feel that this great project is a great example of what our mission statement means” says Club President Haskell Anderson.

The Kiwanis Club of North Little Rock is a vibrant civic club that is celebrating 65 years of serving the city of North Little Rock.
